About the AdamBots
AdamBots Team 245

John Markel

Year you started mentoring the team: 2009

Sub-Teams: Field Team

What are 2 fun facts about you?

I like to do woodworking projects in my spare time.
I love to cook.

Why did you join the Adambots?

Our son Andrew was on the team for 2 years and I enjoyed to real world process that FIRST puts the teams through.  This program is not much different then what it is like at work every day, deadlines, thinking on your feet, etc. I feel like this program is a great way to invest in my own future. What the students are learning today will pay back dividends for industry when we start hiring these future, engineers and scientists in four to eight years.  They will know how critical a deadline is, they will know what it means to work hard to achieve a goal.

What is your favorite memory from robotics?

Watching our future parents, teachers, managers and leaders dancing and having safe clean fun, at the robotics meets and then realizing that we can always bring those pictures & videos back up on Facebook and Youtube in say 20 years when we need a little leverage. Just kidding!

What have you learned from being on the team?

I learned that young or old, you can always learn something new every day.

What is special about FIRST?

The people!
