Michigan State Championship Recap
Watch our games from the 2012 FIRST Michigan State Championship on Youtube!
The team went to the State Championships with high spirit, although we knew that a spot in the World Championships would be difficult to achieve as we were ranked in the lower half of the State. Thursday was a disappointing day losing two of our four matches scheduled for the day. Friday lifted our spirits and morale as our redesigned shooter was making baskets left and right and even in the hybrid period.
The team not only competed on Friday but also helped to raise funds for Relay for Life 2012. The team went around the competition selling pink ducks. We raised $215 alone from the pink ducks! But our fund-raising didn’t stop there as on Saturday our team switched out of our usual attire and put on pink Mission: Possible shirts. Mission: Possible is the name for our Relay for Life team made from the AdamBots and a local boy scout troop. We went around and had people sign our pink shirts in exchange for a donation. We raised $289.54 from the pink shirts to make a total of $504.54 raised for Relay for Life 2012!
Saturday was a much more fortunate day for our team as we ended at 37th out of 64. We managed to be picked for the second alliance’s third robot. We joined with teams 548, the RoboStangs, and 2054, the TechVikes, to create a very successful 2nd alliance that reached the finals, losing ultimately to the 1st alliance in two amazing matches, 80 to 111 and 49 to 60! Although our losses in the finals were not in vain as we managed to earn a spot to the First Championship in St. Louis!
Making it to the finals was not the only thing that the AdamBots achieved at States this year as we also took home the Website and Entrepreneurship awards!
The Adambots look forward to the World Championship, and we hope to see some amazing matches there! Good luck and see everyone soon!
