October 20th OCCRA Competition Recap
This Saturday, October 20, the AdamBots competed in the first competition of the 2012 OCCRA season. It was a success- we won 1st place and were awarded the strategic design award.
The AdamBots hosted the competition at Stoney Creek High School, one of the two high schools that AdamBots students attend. Students and mentors were at the school as early as 6:45 am to help set up the field, and we also helped in concessions and with running the placebo robot.
We were a big presence at the competition, with the majority of our 90+ students and mentors attending. While there we took photos and video, danced to songs such as “Cotton Eye Joe,” which we had learned to dance to as a team during one of our recent team meetings, and made sure to keep spirit at the competition high.
The competition went fantastically, and our robot managed to edge out the others and win us, by one point (68-67) first place. Our ball-lifting mechanism impressed the judges, and we were awarded the strategic design award as well.
We are ready for a great OCCRA season ahead, hoping that we will continue the success of our first competition.
