2014 Kettering Kickoff Recap
The AdamBots traveled over to Kettering University this weekend to participate in the team’s first ever Kettering Kickoff.
After a long break from Andromeda, it took a few weekday practices for the drive team to get back into the groove. Below are our qualification matches scores, with our alliance’s score listed first.
123 – 124 (1st match)
114 – 147
134 – 151
149 – 192
216 – 161
229 – 137
223 – 73 (7th)
After all the qualification matches, we finished off in 16th place. We were picked by the 7th alliance captain, team Torc (2137), and were joined by the Tech Vikes (2054). This was our alliance for the 7th qualification match, and after hitting the highest scoring match of the day, it was clear that the three of us were a pretty strong team.
197 – 171 (Quarter)
162 – 147 (Quarter)
154 – 186 (Semi)
221 – 187 (Semi)
257 – 72 (Semi)
252 – 132 (Final)
157 – 193 (Final)
132 – 212 (Final)
We advanced through quarter finals, semis, and lost to the 1st alliance in the third finals match. Congrats to the winners: Killer Bees (33), Big Mo (314), and Metal Muscle (1506).
The AdamBots came home with the awards Big Dog and Highest Scoring Match. We personally went the whole competition penalty free. While we had some confusing issues that we managed to avoid during FIRST, it felt good to get back in the pits, in the stands, and behind the driver station polycarbonate. Next, we’re off to defend our title as Champs in the All Girls Competition in November! Written by Sydney Micklas
