Welcome to Recycle Rush! The AdamBots welcomed the new FIRST season with our partner team, team 5436 the CyberCats. Both teams met at local Crittenton Hospital on Jan. 4 to review this year’s game and to begin the brainstorming process. We broke off into smaller groups to list our priorities and strategies. The discussion and thinking continued throughout the week. Monday saw us begin some basic sketches (except for one notable student’s full, hardcore CAD), and Tuesday brought us our first full team meeting of the season. By Friday, we had finalized our ideas and began prototyping some designs.
Unfortunately for us, week 2 conveniently coincided with exam week. While we toiled away at home to cram, we still somehow managed to meet Monday and Tuesday to further our designs. When the exams began on Wednesday, we began the process of finalizing our single, basic design. Sadly, while our stresses were lifted after school on Friday, our troubles weren’t over as we lost some CAD work (a few of us may or may not have actually cried). We managed to keep trooping forward though, and on Saturday we took apart Perseus, our practice robot from last year, and began work on the chassis.

That’s it for the first couple weeks of the build season! Time is ticking, though, as bag-and-tag looms closer…. See you in week 3!
