The 2016 Season
The 2016 season was a great year for the AdamBots. The game for 2016 was Stronghold. The game consisted of two opposing strongholds with defenses that robots had to overcome in order to advance throughout the competition. The AdamBots’ solution was Valencia, a robot with mechanisms designed to manipulate defenses and shoot balls into the two goals.
Waterford District Regional Event
The competition was very tough and exciting, with some incredibly high scoring matches. In one notable match, the AdamBots and CyberCats teamed up on an alliance together, quickly breaching the Outer Works and surrounding the tower. The AdamBots were ranked 17th with 20 ranking points. We were selected for the second alliance by Alliance Captain Team 2137, TORC, competing alongside Team 1718, the Fighting Pi. After advancing to the semifinals, we were eliminated in a close tiebreaker match.

Unfortunately we were eliminated in the quarterfinals with some close matches. However, the AdamBots did win the Entrepreneurship Award!

From March 31st through April 2nd, the AdamBots competed at the Queen City Regional in Cincinnati, Ohio. The regional was a lot of fun, and we had a chance to meet teams from all over the United States and abroad that we normally would not see, including a team from Japan, and one from Canada. The regional was a great success for our team because, after a long and hard fight, we qualified for the FIRST World Championship in St. Louis, Missouri!

April 27th – 30th, the AdamBots traveled to St. Louis for the 2016 FIRST World Championships! This exciting event gave us an incredible opportunity to meet different teams, explore St. Louis, discover scholarships and career opportunities, and have a lot of fun. After arriving in St. Louis late on Tuesday night, we had a lot of fun checking out the Innovation Fair and the pits on Wednesday! The Innovation Fair was an exhibition of many of FIRST’s sponsor companies and organizations, such as the Air Force, Disney, and Boeing. We received a lot of free swag, like selfie sticks from Boeing!
