2017 FRC Blogs: Build Week 1

The 2017 FIRST Robotics Competition Game, FIRST STEAMWORKS, has been revealed! Teams around the world watched online to see the new game. FIRST STEAMWORKS is a steampunk-themed game where each alliance strive to assemble a gear system and pressurize a boiler faster than its opponent.

Over the past week the team has been determining a strategy and design for the new challenge. On January 8th we met at our Game Review to discuss potential strategies in small groups. The following day, the Design Selection Team and the Game Strategy Team decided which plan to follow. The three Mechanical Teams have been prototyping designs for the chassis and manipulator systems as the CAD Team digitally creates them. New students have developed their skills this week on the Programming Team. Finally, the Field Build Team has been working on creating a field to test the robot upon.

The business teams have also been busy this week. The Business Planning Team is working on a new method of tracking team continuity. The Chairman’s Team has started work on this year’s award submissions. Work on our annual tour Meet the AdamBots has begun under the Multimedia Communications Team. Our build week update has been produced by the Photo/Video Team. The Imagery Team has been working on team t-shirts and other graphics.

The AdamBots will continue to work similarly through the rest of the build season. We are excited to prepare for our first district competition at Kettering University on March 3rd.
