2017 FRC Blogs: Bloomfield Hills Girls Competition
Our last competition of the 2017 FIRST Robotics Competition was this Saturday, November 11th! At this event, all drive team members and pit crew members must be girls. This allows students who might get pushed to the side otherwise an opportunity to test their skills. Our other students, including our mascot Goldeneye, came to cheer them on too.
Throughout the six qualification matches, our robot Arabella performed well. We managed to fully climb the rope twice and won one match. Despite being ranked 29th, we were selected for the second alliance! Alongside 3414, 910, and 830, we moved onto elimination. The first match was as close as can be. At the end of the match it was 311-311, and fell in favor of the seventh alliance due to a five point foul. The second match was 262-311, ending our 2017 season. Nonetheless, we have much to be proud of. 2017 is the most decorated of our 19 FIRST seasons, including two Chairman’s Awards, seven safety awards, and four other trophies!
Our last competition of the year is the OCCRA Championship this Saturday, November 18, at Walled Lake. Once the OCCRA season wraps up, we look forward to competing in the 2018 FRC game, FIRST Power Up!
