2018 FRC Blogs: Build Week One
January 6th marks the beginning of FIRST Power-Up, the FRC game for our 20th season! We viewed the global online kickoff at Emagine Entertainment’s Rochester Hills theatre. In the game, robots must place milk crates on scales to tip them in their favor. Additional points are awarded for each robot that’s 12 inches above the ground at the end of the match, whether by climbing the scale or by assisting one another. The next day, we met at Ascension Hospital to break down the game. We’ve been continuing to strategize to determine the best path to victory.
The Mechanical subteams have been designing and prototyping various systems, helped by Computer Aided Design‘s digital 3D models. The Programming and Electrical subteams have been preparing the control system for each design. New this year, the Supply Chain Management subteam is budgeting and purchasing parts. We look forward to having a finalized design in the coming weeks.
Our business subteams have also been busy. Business Plan and Chairman’s are working on their award submissions. Photo/Video is working with Digital Media to create videos and share photos. Animation will be learning from a professional animator. Partner Relations is planning our annual open house, Meet the AdamBots. We invite anyone interested in the team – teachers, parents, current or potential sponsors, politicians, potential members, etc – to join us on February 24th to see who we are and what we are all about.
