2018 FRC Blogs: Escanaba District Event
This weekend, the AdamBots traveled to Escanaba in the Upper Peninsula! Arriving on Thursday after an eight hour drive, we set up our pit and prepared our robot for the coming days. Friday couldn’t be busier, between competing with our own robot and assisting other teams with theirs. Our programmers were in extreme demand. You would often see yellow shirts bouncing between each team’s pits to get as many robots as possible to a functional level.
Our matches couldn’t have gone better. We won all twelve qualification matches and even ended ranked first! The robot managed to outscore the combined efforts of the opposing alliance time and time again. Moving onto alliance selection, we requested team 4391, BraveBots, for the second consecutive year. Our alliance was completed with team 904, D Cubed. Ready for the elimination rounds, together we developed our alliance’s strategy.
The elimination matches went similarly to the qualifications. We beat the 8th alliance, then the 4th to move onto the finals against the 2nd alliance. With match scores of 404-276 and 417-236, our alliance became the 2018 winners of the Escanaba District Event!
This would be far from the end of our accomplishments. During the award ceremony, we were recognized with the Entrepreneurship Award for our efforts towards sustainability and business planning. Our fifth trophy this year, we have a total of 147 district points and three blue banners. This places us as the #1 team out of the 508 teams in Michigan!
Our next competition is the Troy District Event on March 30-31st at Troy Athens High School. We invite all to come and see what we can do!
