1st Competition: Kettering District #1
The AdamBots had a very successful weekend at the Kettering #1 District Competition on March 1-2, 2024! The Team finished in 18th place out of 40 teams during the qualification matches. We started off a little slow on the first day with several issues that caused us to have poorer than normal performance, but after quickly replacing the ruined pieces and fixing our code, we were up and ready for the rest of our matches. We ended qualifications with a record of 6 wins and 6 losses.
We were selected by the number six alliance captain, team 1, the Juggernauts from Oakland Schools Technical Campus (Northeast), as their first pick. They selected team 2145, the Hazmats, from Lake Fenton High School to complete our alliance. This was an amazing partnership with the alliance finishing the playoffs with a record of four wins, one loss, and one tie, which we won based on tech foul. This alliance is now the Kettering #1 winning alliance!
The AdamBots also earned the Engineering Inspiration Award which celebrates outstanding success in advancing respect and appreciation for engineering within a team’s school or organization and community. This qualifies us to compete for this award at the Michigan State Championship and we are looking forward to it! The Impact team also presented for the Impact Award. Their presentation included a musical scale including elements of their team’s core values.
The marketing team was also hard at work, ensuring our audience at home was kept up to date. We did 3 posts a day, one in the morning, one during lunch, and one at the end to recap our day! We posted our match schedule and shared the twitch link, so our friends at home could watch! We also shared our alliance partners and shared our schedule for finals!
Overall, we finished very high in the State, after week number one, we are well on our way to making it to the Michigan State Championship with our robot performance. We will next compete at the Troy #1 District on March 23-24, 2024.
The event also held a moment of silence for the loss of two long-standing mentors, Bob Bonczyk, a mentor for 30 years with FRC Team 107 and our own Grace Drummer, who was with FRC Team 245 for 24 years.
