AdamBots Team 245

2025-2026 Outreach

Ambassador Program

When an AdamBot is traveling to another country, they are encouraged to participate in our Ambassador Program. Through this program, we take FIRST robotics kits and visit schools or other institutions to explain the FIRST robotics program and encourage students to pursue STEM. When doing this, we represent our team by wearing our AdamBots uniform. So far, students from our team have spread awareness of FIRST to countries like France, India, Japan, England, Australia, Cambodia, and Haiti.

Gold Rush Tailgate

This Rochester Adams High School Gold Rush Tailgate event held each September is BIG FUN! (That’s one of our Core Values!) The purpose of this event is to invite the children and families from the Adams district to experience what it means to be a Highlander. Our school welcomes thousands of people to this massive tailgate party with food trucks, carnival games, bounce houses, climbing walls, face painting, marching band and dance performances, and much more. The AdamBots are a featured highlight every year – as we put our robots and awesome t-shirt cannon on display – we promote and encourage involvement in one of our many FLL, FTC, and FRC programs.

Art and Apples

2025 marks the 60th year of the Art and Apples Festival in Rochester, Michigan! This celebrated community event is much more than an art fair. The Paint Creek Center for the Art (PCCA) hosts hundreds of artists, art classes, food trucks, and an extensive entertainment lineup for a three-day weekend of fun. For more than ten years, the PCCA has graciously allowed us to host a nearby parking lot to attract visitors and collect parking fees as profit for the use of the team. We are grateful the PCCA allows us this fundraiser to bolster our Sustainability plan. This activity is defined in our plan as the Parking Lot Business.

Hunger Walk

Among the AdamBot’s many traditions is our annual Hunger Walk which serves as a ‘foodraiser’. We invite other local robotics teams to participate in this activity. Students bring non-perishable food to supply our local Rochester area Neighborhood House food pantry and walk together through the municipal park to raise awareness.

Robotics For Everyone

In the fall of 2025, the AdamBots, along with the FTC teams, hosted their first Robotics for Everyone course at Van Hoosen Middle School. The objective for this course was to provide some outreach and opportunities for middle schoolers who are interested in robotics and wish to learn, but can’t commit the time to join a competitive team. They were focused on having fun, collaborative learning, basic design, and programming. These classes were after school for 3 days, and they taught the middle schoolers with Spike Bots with a 1:2 helper-to-student ratio. This event was a free course that used their scout tablets and PlayStation controllers to control the Spike Bots for a sumo wrestling match. This event was designed to encourage collaboration and creativity, with LEGO bags awarded to the first-place team.

Halloween Hoot

Since 2002, the AdamBots have cleaned up after the final night of the Halloween Hoot at the Dinosaur Hills Nature Preserve, taking down the decorations and picking up trash from the trails. Due to a flood on the trail, the Halloween Hoot was canceled in the year 2025.

Henry Ford Hospital Positive Quotes

Team members create cards with positive quotes on them during the holidays for
terminally ill patients at the Henry Ford Hospital. The AdamBots have designed and delivered over 900 cards to help make their holiday season special.

Scavenger Hunt

We hold an annual Scavenger Hunt at the Village of Rochester Hills, helping the team bond during our pre-season. Each member makes a $5 donation. This year we raised $355 which was donated to the Neighborhood House Food Pantry.

Christmas Parade

The Rochester Area Hometown Christmas Parade is the largest Christmas parade in Michigan – featuring over 100 entries marching down a one-and-a-half-mile route. Held annually on the first Sunday in December, the AdamBots walk along with our banner, demonstrate our past robots, and promote robotics to tens of thousands of spectators.

Black History Month Virtual Read-In

The Rochester Community Schools partnered with Oakland Schools to host the Black History Month Virtual Read-In. This year author/illustrator Don Tate was honored. The AdamBots gave a presentation on STEM and led STEM activities for the students.

Relay for Life

The Relay for Life is a fundraiser walk to support the American Cancer Society. The AdamBots raise money for this event by selling luminaries every spring as well as collecting donations by giving out pink ducks at competitions. Luminaries are placed around a track in honor of those who have lost their battle with cancer or who are currently battling it. Our team has been recognized by the American Cancer Society, as we have donated over $140,000 since we started this initiative. We have remained the top team fundraiser in our area for several years. We have raised money for this event since 2008.

Operation School Bell

The AdamBots help load trucks for the Assistance League’s Operation School Bell program in the fall. Chapters research specific needs in their local communities and develop, fund, and implement programs that
support children in need. The goal is to help children succeed in school by providing coats, school clothing, toiletries, books, and duffel bags.

FLL-Explore/FLL-Challenge/FTC Events

Every year, as a part of our outreach program, each AdamBot is encouraged to participate in robot outreach. This is attained by volunteering at one of the local FLL-Challenge and FLL-Explore events. The AdamBots volunteer alongside the FEDS and the Cyber Cats, as judges, reviewers, and various other roles. This helps foster a better community with our FRC, FTC, and FLL teams. This had been a requirement for every team member until two seasons ago, but since then, we have made mentoring voluntary.

Rochester Hills Cultural Fair

The AdamBots demonstrated our T-Shirt Canon at the Rochester Hills Cultural Fair.

Ambassador Program Partnering With FTC Team

Viking Tech, a FIRST robotics team from Van Hoosen Middle School (working with the AdamBots), raised ~$2,000 this season to purchase robotics kits for a partner school in Cambodia. This international outreach will provide students from K-12 learning, opportunity, and inspiration!

Science Fair

The AdamBots participated in the Long Meadow elementary school science fair! We showed the students our robot, teaching them how to drive it! We brought our FTC teams to show their robot as well. We are so excited that kids are being exposed to STEAM at such a young age! We had so much fun and appreciate the opportunity!

Adams HS 8th Grade Night

The AdamBots showcased our team at 8th grade parent night. We are excited to welcome our new members next year!

Girls In STEM Exchange

We are so excited that kids are being exposed to STEAM at such a young age! We had so much fun and appreciate the opportunity!

Impact Exchange

The AdamBots hosted an Impact exchange with 3 other FRC teams. They shared their feedback and presentations, collaborating with students as they prepared for their upcoming events.

Treats For Troops

The AdamBots drop off bags of candy at the local police station to be sent to troops around the
world, bringing them joy.

Leader Dog Incubators

The Leader Dogs for the blind use coolers with heating elements, built by Oakland University, as incubators to transport newly born puppies, mostly those coming from a C-section. The AdamBots electrical team have fixed the incubators that no longer work, so that they can go back to helping to safely transport puppies.

Coats for the Cold

AdamBots members dropped off new or gently used coats at various drop-off locations around the Metro Detroit area. The coats were donated to people in need.

Older Persons’ Commission

We have made hand-written cards for members of the Older Persons’ Commission. Provided holiday gift donations to the Rochester Area Neighborhood House. These would allow families to enjoy themselves during the holidays and spread the holiday spirit.

Donations to the Rainbow Connection and Toys for Tots

We coordinated with AdamBots members to drop off toys to give to the organizations:
Rainbow Connection: an organization that grants wishes and provides support services to Michigan children battling life-threatening illness.
Toys for Tots: an organization centered in Michigan to give toys to children in Michigan.

Meet the AdamBots

This is an open house called “Meet the AdamBots.”
This event has been successful in the following: Recruiting new members, sparking interest in STEM among younger students, introducing robotics to new parents, and ensuring that our team remains sustainable. We introduce ourselves with a presentation explaining our team and our history. We also give a demonstration of our robot. Those who are interested may explore subteam demonstrations given by current team members.

Digging Destiny Mock Judging Session

The AdamBots mentors did a mock judging session with the FLL-Challenge team 47574 Digging Destiny. This astounding FLL-C team made it to the World Championships in April, and as their mentors and sponsors, we wanted to make sure that they were prepared for it.

Ambassador Program – LEGO EV3 Kits to Cambodia

As of the Spring of 2026, the AdamBots are packing and sending refurbished LEGO EV3 Kits to Cambodia. By repurposing previously used kits from older FLL sets, they are not only promoting STEM education globally but also supporting environmental sustainability.
